Tom LeClair is the co-editor of a book of interviews with American novelists (with Larry McCaffery) entitled Anything Can Happen. He is the author of two critical studies of contemporary American fiction: In the Loop (about Don DeLillo) and The Art of Excess (on master novels of the 1970s and 80s), both published by the University of Illinois Press. He has published five novels with small presses: Passing Off, Well-Founded Fear, Passing On, The Liquidators, and Passing Through. His short fiction has appeared in Witness, Fiction International, Cross-Connect, and Aethlon. LeClair is the author of over 200 essays and reviews of new fiction in Atlantic, The New Republic, The Nation, the New York Times Book Review, Washington Post Book World, Book Magazine, Barnes and Noble Review, American Book Review, Electronic Book Review, and many other periodicals. His interviews have appeared in the Paris Review, The New Republic, Chicago Review, and Contemporary Literature. He is the proprietor of the website www.terminaltours.com, which is a fictional extension of the novels in his "Passing" trilogy.
