The primary aim of this anthology is to present in English translation and chronologically arranged representative authors who illustrate the development of this genre in Greece from the beginning of the mid-1800s to 1950. Since literature is also the product of an individual country with its own political and cultural history, it is only natural that the short story in Greece possessed its own distinct characteristics.
